We dined in a beautiful private room, with an impressive decorative wall, at Michelin recommended Seaport City Seafood restaurant in Vancouver for a delicious Sunday lunch. We enjoyed an impressive selection of Dim Sum as well as platters of fine Chinese specialities. Unexpected favourites were the Deep Fried Dumplings with Taro, and Stir-Fried Sea Cucumber and Scallop with Black Truffle as well as the Jellyfish with the Mixed Appetisers.

While Riesling is a commonly accepted wine to accompany Chinese food, and we did enjoy 2022 Tantalus Riesling from the Okanagan Valley, we generally agreed that other wines from our cellar paired well with the food. The wines included Segura Viudas Cava Brut, 2019 Chateau Musar Musar Jeune Rosť, 2020/22 Bailly-Reverdy Sancerre La Mercy-Dieu, 2021 La Tunella Friuli Colli Orientali Pinot Grigio and 2012 Pfaffenheim Pinot Gris Steinert to finish.

Our lunch was thoroughly enjoyed and our thanks go to members Garfield Marshall and Susan Man for their invaluable assistance in organising the event and the menu, to Milena Robertson for her photographic record of the lunch and food and to Assistant Manager Juno for the attentive service during the meal
